A new wage rule from beginning of 2022 in Romania

As of January 1, 2022, a new rule is introduced in Romania, affecting employees working at the minimum wage. Employees who sign an employment contract on the country's minimum gross wage (about 500 euros) will be able to receive it for no more than 24 months. The employer is then obliged to offer a salary that is higher than the minimum. The two-year period starts from the date of concluding the contract.
